The Salkantay Trek is a 5-day adventure through breathtaking Andean landscapes, ancient ruins, and diverse ecosystems. This trek leads you through towering snow-capped peaks, lush tropical jungles, and ends with the majestic Machu Picchu. Enjoy gourmet meals, professional guides, comfortable camping, and the opportunity to explore local coffee plantations, hot springs, and the historic Llactapata ruins.
Start at 5:00 AM with a private transfer to Soraypampa. After breakfast, hike to the turquoise Humantay Lake and continue to Salkantay Pampa for lunch. Trek to the first campsite at Soroccocha, situated beneath the towering Salkantay Mountain.
After breakfast, ascend to Apacheta Pass (4,650m) for stunning views of snow-capped peaks and turquoise lakes. Descend to Rayanniyoc for lunch, then continue to the Colpapampa campsite, surrounded by lush valleys and waterfalls. Trek through fruit plantations and cacao farms to Lucmabamba, arriving in time for lunch. Visit a coffee plantation to learn about Peruvian coffee and enjoy a coffee-making experience. Optional visit to Cocalmayo hot springs before returning to camp for dinner.
Hike along the ancient Inca Trail to Llactapata, with breathtaking views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains. Descend to the hydroelectric plant for lunch, then trek to Aguas Calientes for dinner and a hotel stay.
After an early breakfast, take a bus to Machu Picchu to witness the sunrise. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the Citadel, exploring its agricultural, residential, and religious sectors. Return to Cusco by train and private transport, arriving by 7:00 PM.
