The Lares Trek is a 4-day journey through the breathtaking Andean mountains, remote indigenous communities, and stunning landscapes of the Lares Valley. This trek combines cultural immersion, visits to local villages, and a memorable exploration of the iconic Machu Picchu. With gourmet meals, expert guides, and comfortable camping, the Lares Trek is the perfect alternative to the Inca Trail.
Wake up early and start the adventure! At 4:00 AM, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. Rest in private transportation to Ollantaytambo, where you will receive a lunchbox to carry in your daypack. The train departs at 6:10 AM for a scenic hour-long journey to KM104.
Begin the trek by crossing the Urubamba River on a picturesque footbridge. The first hour and a half is a gentle upward climb, followed by a steeper path leading to a beautiful waterfall and Wiñay Wayna (2,600m/8,500ft).
After a gourmet lunch, hike to the Sun Gate for your first view of Machu Picchu. Enjoy this magical moment before heading down to Aguas Calientes for dinner and a restful night.
After an early breakfast at the hotel, take one of the first buses to Machu Picchu to witness the sunrise. The guide will provide a 2-hour tour of the Citadel, showcasing the most important parts of Machu Picchu.
After exploring, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and optional activities like shopping, sightseeing, or visiting the hot springs. Take the Expedition Train at 2:55 PM or 3:20 PM to Ollantaytambo, followed by private transport back to Cusco, arriving around 7:00 PM.
