The Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a 4-day, 3-night trek that offers a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Start your journey with a 4:30 AM hotel pickup in Cusco. Travel to KM82, the trailhead, stopping for breakfast in Ollantaytambo. Begin the hike at an altitude of 2,720m (8,923ft), passing by the Inca Fortress of Huillca Raccay and Llactapata.
Begin early with a hot drink at 5:30 AM. Ascend to Dead Woman’s Pass (4,200m/13,779ft), the highest point on the trail. Enjoy spectacular views and a challenging descent to the campsite at Pacaymayu Alto (3,550m/11,646ft). Ascend to the third highest point of the trail at 3,680m (12,073ft), visiting archaeological sites like Runcuracay and Phuyupatamarca. Descend 3,000 steps through the cloud forest to Wiñay Wayna.
Wake up at 3:30 AM to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) by sunrise. Enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring its agricultural, residential, and religious sectors. Return to Cusco by train and private transport, arriving around 7:00 PM.
