The Salkantay Trek combined with the Inca Trail is a unique 7-day adventure that takes you through stunning Andean landscapes, ancient Inca ruins, and the iconic Machu Picchu Citadel. Begin at 5:00 AM with a pickup from your hotel. Travel through the villages of Iscuchaca and Limatambo to Soraypampa. After breakfast, hike to the turquoise Humantay Lake. Continue climbing to Salkantaypampa for dinner and camping.
Hike for about 3 hours uphill to reach the campsite near the snow-capped Salkantay Mountain. Enjoy stunning views of glaciers, lakes, and valleys before settling into camp. Climb for 4 hours to the Incachiriaska Pass (4,880m/16,010ft), where Andean Condors are often seen. Descend to the Sisaypampa campsite.
Hike through Pampacahua Valley, passing an ancient Inca canal. Visit the Paucarcancha ruins and join the Classic Inca Trail. Ascend to Llulluchapampa for camping.
Climb to Dead Woman’s Pass (4,217m/14,047ft) and descend to the Pacaymayu River. Ascend to Runcurakay Pass (3,977m/13,127ft), then descend to Phuyupatamarca for camping.
Descend to Wiñay Wayna for lunch. Continue to the Sun Gate for your first view of Machu Picchu. After photos, take a bus to Aguas Calientes for dinner and a hotel stay.
Take an early bus to Machu Picchu and witness the sunrise. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the Citadel, then explore on your own or hike Huayna Picchu (optional). Return to Cusco by train and private transport.
